A glimpse at life in the last few weeks.
1. The other night Everett, Ellie and I were sitting down to dinner that a friend had brought us. As we started eating I said, "Mama's hungry." Ellie looked up from her plate and said "Again?" I proceeded to explain that Mamas that nurse their babies are very hungry - I am not ready to admit that it might just be me :)
2. Soon after Mason was born, Everett took her to meet her fans in the waiting room. Ellie could not figure out why Daddy and Mason came out to see everyone but Mama did not. Didi tried to explain that Mama was busy with the nurses and doctors but after Ellie asked three times to see me, she realized she wasnt getting through. She looked at Didi and said "I want to see Jennifer NOW!"
3. Ellie and I were holding Mason and I said to Ellie "I love my girls." Ellie replied "All of them?" "Yes. I love Ellie and I love Mason." Ellie smiled and said "I love you Mama and I love me too"
4. On my first day home with 2 kids by myself, Ellie realized that her and Mason were quite different. She looked right at me and said "Mama, I not a baby anymore." "No, you are my big girl, " I replied with a mix of pride and sadness... she proceeded to tell me over and over just in case I was not clear about who was the baby and who was the big girl around here. I am so proud of Ellie and all she is learning and doing and no matter what, she will always be my baby!
