Excuses, Excuses

Me: Ellie, Can you pick up your crayons and put them on the table?
Ellie: No, I can't.
Me: Why not?
Ellie: Because my booty ran out of gas

For those of you who work, feel free to try this one on your boss - maybe it will get you out of work or at least make your boss die laughing like I did :)

Semi-Professional Baby Holder

Semi-Professional Baby holder for hire. Will somewhat support baby's head. Will drop her as soon as anything else looks more interesting or you have taken my picture and documented my skills. Will sing her ABCs and tell her "its okay" repeatedly. If needed, will yell "boo" in her face to relieve hiccups. Can be really cute holding her and sucking my thumb when I watch tv.

My first bath

We gave Mason her first bath last weekend. She protested a little but was a really good sport about it.

Again? and other stories

A glimpse at life in the last few weeks.

1. The other night Everett, Ellie and I were sitting down to dinner that a friend had brought us. As we started eating I said, "Mama's hungry." Ellie looked up from her plate and said "Again?" I proceeded to explain that Mamas that nurse their babies are very hungry - I am not ready to admit that it might just be me :)

2. Soon after Mason was born, Everett took her to meet her fans in the waiting room. Ellie could not figure out why Daddy and Mason came out to see everyone but Mama did not. Didi tried to explain that Mama was busy with the nurses and doctors but after Ellie asked three times to see me, she realized she wasnt getting through. She looked at Didi and said "I want to see Jennifer NOW!"

3. Ellie and I were holding Mason and I said to Ellie "I love my girls." Ellie replied "All of them?" "Yes. I love Ellie and I love Mason." Ellie smiled and said "I love you Mama and I love me too"

4. On my first day home with 2 kids by myself, Ellie realized that her and Mason were quite different. She looked right at me and said "Mama, I not a baby anymore." "No, you are my big girl, " I replied with a mix of pride and sadness... she proceeded to tell me over and over just in case I was not clear about who was the baby and who was the big girl around here. I am so proud of Ellie and all she is learning and doing and no matter what, she will always be my baby!

Common phrased you might hear around our house lately:
Don't poke Mason in the eye.
I'll be real cawful
I just need to kiss her real easy
She tooted hard
I want to hold her
Don't lay your head on her head
She poo poos alot
Don't kick your shoes off around the baby
Can you put her up?
She doesn't listen!!!

Sweet

Baby Mason

Well, we are home and adjusting to say the least. My delivery with Mason was easier and faster than Ellie. After it was over, I told the doctor "I was ready to run a marathon and I only had to go a mile." She smiled and said "Your marathon just started. You've got two kids at home." Well, she was right. We got home Friday and have been running ever since. Mason has jaundice and has now been hooked up to the bili blanket for 48 hours (24 to go until her next checkup). Ellie is adjusting and in the mean time being her usual self - stubborn, hilarious, loving and intense (just like her dada). Last night we sat down to dinner and I said "Mama's hungry" and she looked up at me and said "again?" We just died laughing - when you are nursing you eat alot!

Mason Eaves White

Happy Birthday, Mason Eaves White!!!

Mason Eaves White was born today, April 15th, at 2:00 pm. She was 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long. Jennifer and Mason are doing great...as well as Everett and Big Sister Ellie!

(Ellie, Everett and Didi were looking at Mason's itty bitty footprints in the second picture!).

I am sure that Jennifer will be updating the blog with more pictures as soon as they get settled in. Mason's a cutie!!

Mason is snug as a bug

Well, Mason seems to be snug as a bug in her womb. I am having contractions frequently but nothing painful or regular yet. My doctor will induce me close to my due date if she has not decided to show her cute little face. Ellie and I keep talking to Mason and telling her to come play with us. Ellie says "Come out, Mason, we are weally fun." I am majorly nesting and have proceeding to clean out and reorganize my pantry as well as Ellie's closet and drawers, refinish a kitchen table and some chairs we found at a consignment store, and do a lot of laundry in the last week or so. It is hard to believe that regardless, she will be here sometime next week! Keep us in your prayers as we adjust to becoming a family of four... Our hope and prayer is that we can try our best to keep Ellie in her regular routine and give her a lot of exposure to the baby as well as reassure her how much Mommy and Daddy love her and think she is a great big sister. She is so excited about helping me with Mason... it will be funny and interesting to see what she thinks after a few days with Mason.

Happy Birthday Ellie!

Ellie turned 3 Monday, April 6. We had cinnamon rolls with candles in them when she woke up along with a big bucket of Play Doh and a Mickey Mouse balloon. She loved it (even though she looks angry in the first pic). Here is a little bit about our 3 year old:

Funny words she says: regio (regular), cheese mandich (cheese sandwich), Chicken Ray (Chic-fil-A), wejoice (rejoice)
