Ellie was baptized yesterday at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church. It was such a special time to have Jason Edwards baptize her and our church members pledge to help us raise her in Christ. Infant Baptism is confusing to a lot of people, but basically the PCA church believes that in the Old Testament God required his people (including infants) to be set apart by circumcision (even though the infants were yet themselves to believe in Christ). In the New Testament (under the New Covenant) circumcision was replaced by baptism. There are several instance where entire households (including infants) were baptized because of a believing parent. The sacrament of baptism serves as a sign of the covenants (promises bound by blood) God has made with his people. Because Ellie is the child of believing parents, we believe that God will continue to be faithful to his people and that He will pursue Ellie and grow her faith in Him. We are so thankful to God that He keeps promises and that He loved us so much he sent His son!
