That is Ellie's Indian name... here she is sporting her mohawk. Let's hope this hairstyle is only a phase... I'm sure she will go through several bad haircuts in her life. Maybe Natalie can teach her about when not to sport the latest trend (hmm... no man/woman haircuts for Ellie) Those of you who attended 4th grade at JA know what I am talking about! Don't worry, Nat, you somehow still managed to look cool!
Monday (Aug 28) was Ellie's first day eating Rice Cereal from a spoon. The very first time I put the spoon up to her mouth, she grabbed the spoon and shoved it right in... I can't decide if that is just another sign that she might be a strong-willed child or just that she inherited the can't-stand-to-wait-for-my-food trait from her daddy!
Ellie and Rives sittin in a tree... Baby Rives Johnson (who we - and Rives parents- lovingly refer to as Ellie's boyfriend) came over this weekend. Looks like the kids are okay with the idea. Note that Rives is wearing is muscle shirt and even doing a little flexing. Ellie, who has not mastered the art of playing hard to get, just reached out and grabbed his hand!
Ellie was baptized yesterday at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church. It was such a special time to have Jason Edwards baptize her and our church members pledge to help us raise her in Christ. Infant Baptism is confusing to a lot of people, but basically the PCA church believes that in the Old Testament God required his people (including infants) to be set apart by circumcision (even though the infants were yet themselves to believe in Christ). In the New Testament (under the New Covenant) circumcision was replaced by baptism. There are several instance where entire households (including infants) were baptized because of a believing parent. The sacrament of baptism serves as a sign of the covenants (promises bound by blood) God has made with his people. Because Ellie is the child of believing parents, we believe that God will continue to be faithful to his people and that He will pursue Ellie and grow her faith in Him. We are so thankful to God that He keeps promises and that He loved us so much he sent His son!
Last week Ellie saw Dr. Ellison for her 4 month checkup. As usual, she was at the top of the growth chart. Her stats: weight 15 lbs & 6 oz (90 %), height 27 in (95%). The first height measurements the nurse took were about 28 in which made her "off the chart" in Dr. Ellison's words. He remeasured her and then said "We'll go with 27 in and call her in the 95%". I think he was just trying to make me feel like my little giant was normal :). Her height is just one more way she is nothing like me (although my family does carry more tall genes than Everett's - they just seemed to skip me).
Tummy Time. Here Ellie is showing off her rolly muscles! She is getting so strong. We are both sporting some new muscles from lifting her cute chubby little self!
Look at me! I am getting real big and can roll over. I love my new trick and am rolling all over Mommy and Daddy's rug. Sometimes I get stuck with my face in the carpet and Mommy has to come put me back on my back. I can't wait to get where I can really move - this is so much fun!
