Happy Birthday Everett!

We celebrated Everett's 29th this week! Happy birthday, Dada. We love you!

Honeymoon is over

Ellie is definitely realizing that Mason is here to stay... Ellie is still very attached to her but definitely been acting out a bit. We went to dinner last night for Everett's birthday and Ellie was supposed to spend the night with my Mom. Mom had to call us to come get her because she was crying... she wanted to sleep in her own bed and she DID NOT want to be away from her house or Mason... She also told me the next day that she did not want to spend the night anywhere but her house and she did not want to be away from baby Mason....so it looks like we are having some adjustment issues!

The truth about 2

Here are some questions I have gotten lately.

What's it really like with 2?
For me, it is much easier than being pregnant with one. Don't get me wrong, there are moments I want to pull my hair out, but mostly, I love it. I think when your pregnancies are tough, it sort of allows you to be thankful for whatever comes next, even if its difficult because at least you feel good again - woo-hoo! The sudden boost of health makes you feel a bit like Superwoman, so if the task is difficult, you feel up for it.
*I should mention that the girls nap at the same time everyday so I get a break. Ellie is old enough to entertain herself a little, can communicate with me easily and doesnt cry much, so I only have one crying baby on a bad day. Ellie also goes to MMO 2 days a week. Mason is also sleeping 5 hours a night.

Are you having more?
No one ever seems satisfied with the stage you are in. They are always asking about what comes next... Right now, we feel very complete as a family of four. Pregnancy is very hard on all of us and I am not sure we could make it through another one any time soon. I am just trying to enjoy Mason knowing she could be my last baby.

Are you feeling better?
YES! I cannot tell you how thankful I am to feel like myself again. Ellie said it best the other day in the car "Momma you no throw out anymore!" I have not "thrown out" in a little over four weeks! Even Everett comments on how much more energy I have and how great it is to have his wife back.

Mason

Week 1: polka dot pjs
Week 2: hangin with baby rhino

Mason has been a sweet baby so far. I have not uploaded all my pics. She is actually 4 weeks old now. She is sleeping for about 5 hours at least once a night. She grunts more than she cries. At her 2 wk appt, she was 20" long (50%), 7 lb 10 oz (30%) and 34 1/2 (25%) I still can't believe she is so small. Ellie has only dipped below the 90% one time in one category in 3 years...

Ellie

Ellie continues to be hilarious and sweet with Mason. Every time she wakes up from her nap or wakes up in the morning or I pick her up from school, the first thing she asks is either "Where is Baby Mason?" or "How is Baby Mason?" She needs to kiss Mason at least 10 times a day and hold her at least 5. She is a big helper with diapers, pacis, blankets and clothes. She runs through a check list before we leave the house to make sure I have not forgotten anything Mason might need.

She is cracking me up. The other days she came running in the room where I was and said "Quick. Light a candle cuz I tooted."

Ellie is also showing a little bit of OCD lately. She loves to get cards (like the ones that come in the Memory game) and line them up in patterns on our floor.

She is becoming more of a Daddy's girl :( Here is a conversation we had today.
Me: Ellie, you are my favorite little girl
E: uh-huh
Me: Am I your favorite Mommy?
E: No.
Me: Who is your favorite Mommy?
E: Um.... Daddy

My girls

This little piggy...

Ellie is very interested in teaching Mason every song and rhyme she knows... The other day she grabbed Mason's toe and said "This little piggy went to Target..."

What can I say? We have been there a time or two :)

Let me read you a story...
