Uncle Mac & Baby Ellie

Here is my brother, Mac, and Ellie. (Mac is Clayton's dad.) He is a veterinarian doing a surgery residency and wasnt able to be here when Ellie was born, so he spent some time holding her on Mother's day! Posted by Picasa

Sweet Kisses

Clayton loves to give Ellie a kiss... we are still trying to teach him to be gentle!  Posted by Picasa

The Future's So Bright...

Here is my nephew, Clayton, sporting his new shades. I accidentally hit the wrong button on my camera, so the picture is a little fuzzy... but it is still so cute! Posted by Picasa

Sunny Smile

This weekend, we took Ellie outside for a little time at the park with the family. She enjoyed the breeze and the sun. Or, she might just be having a good dream!  Posted by Picasa

Ellie - 5 Weeks Old & Under the Weather

Little Ellie is 5 weeks old (though she is the size of an 11 week old according to our book about newborns). This has been a hard week for her. After a visit to Dr. Ellison, we found out that she weighs 11 lbs 1 oz and is in the 90% for her weight. As Dr. Ellison said "she is growing like a champ." But our big little baby has an ear infection and a cough/cold with a bad runny nose. It is so sad for someone so little to be sick. It is also sad when she passes her sickness to both of her parents who are trying so hard to take care of her :) Oh well, this too shall pass! I will spare you the details of how I tried to take her temperature - just as I got the thermometer in place, she went to the bathroom in an effort to sabotage my efforts at getting an accurate temp! Posted by Picasa

Sunday Style

Isn't this the cutest baby outfit you have ever seen? I love this little Sunday romper. Ellie wore it on her first trip to Pear Orchard Pres! Notice how she is holding her arm up so you can see her cute bracelet!

As you can see below, she was not quite in a good mood. We did not make it through the entire church service. She managed to have a loud dirty diaper in the middle of church!  Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday Gigi!

We celebrated Gigi's (my grandmother's) 80th birthday this weekend. She seemed so glad to have so much of her family in one place (my uncle's lake house). She even wanted to go fishing! We gave her a diamond necklace and ring. I love a woman who can wear diamonds one minute and fish the next. Go Gigi! Posted by Picasa

Moment in Time

Four generations of women in my family... Me, Jean Owen (Gigi), Donna Owen Maxwell (Didi, my mom) and Baby Ellie. Ellie loves her Gigi. Posted by Picasa

Say Jake!

My cousin, Jake, loves to hold Ellie. He tries to teach her to say his name. Though she has a long way to go, I think his persistence might pay off! Before we know it, she will be running around and talking up a storm!  Posted by Picasa

Cutie

Isn't this outfit too cute? Posted by Picasa

A few of my favorite things

1. Ellie's chubby shoulders
2. The way she grabs my shoulder when I burp her.
3. Her smile - all gums!
4. The way she nuzzles up to my neck when we nap on the couch and she is lying on my chest.
5. The way her daddy loves her.
6. How she likes to watch her daddy.
7. Her tiny toes
8. Watching her do something new (today she really watched the birds on her mobile... at least for a minute or two.)
9. The dress she wore to church today (to be blogged later)
10. Her pink hat (also to be blogged with church outfit :) Posted by Picasa

Getting Better at Bathtime!

Our first peaceful bath was truly a Kodak moment. Not a peep from our little angel who is developing a tolerance for suds and water. BUT as soon as the bath ended, it was all screams for towel time... Oh well, we are making progress. How cute is that little belly? Posted by Picasa

Queen Bra-tifah

Ahh.. the joys of motherhood. This week, I went to Wal-Mart in search of a strapless bra big enough to fit my breast-milk enhanced chest. Bargain shopper that I am, I found one for only $12. As I was cutting the tags before wearing it, I looked down and noticed the spokesmodel for my new bra - none other than Queen Latifah stared back at me from the label encouraging me to "celebrate my curves." I am not sure that anyone 5' 2" should have curves like this, and my experience trying on clothes lately proves that no clothes designers think these porportions are normal.

Moving On Up

Ellie is 4 weeks old today. She outgrew her newborn clothes this week and is up to her 0-3 months outfits. As soon as we use these last few newborn diapers, we will be moving up to Size 1. She is growing so fast. Everett and I are having so much fun watching her make silly faces. She is becoming more alert and use her arms more and more. She is drawn to light and looks at it wherever it is - whether it is coming from the tv, the car window, the night light, etc. She is sleeping a little better - it is getting her to sleep -or back to sleep- that seems to be the new challenge. But we are getting a bit more rest now that she is not sleeping in our room! Posted by Picasa

Baby Ellie's "Big Sisters"

Rebecca and Mary Clark (two of my youth) and Ashleigh (who volunteers with the youth) stopped by to see Ellie. Thanks for visiting, girls! Posted by Picasa
